A Sneak Peek into Rønne
- Your arrival point is Rønne, the island's capital, but it is not the most compelling reason to visit Bornholm.
- There are far more rewarding targets away from the main town, which is located on the western coast of Zealand and is home to the significant harbour and airport.
- Rønne has a certain charm as you walk its historic Gamle Stan (Old Town), with its cobblestoned streets flanked by cross-timbered houses, many of which are brightly painted in "sunshine colours" such as yellow and orange.
- Laksegade and Storegade, as well as the triangular sector between Store Torv and Lille Torv, are the best streets for seeing Bornholm as it used to be.
- Many of the island's smaller towns or hamlets have even more character.
- Because of Soviet aerial attacks in 1945, most of Rønne was destroyed, so what you see today is a modern town with a population of around 15,000 people.
- In the postwar years, the parents of today's residents rebuilt Rønne wisely, opting for an old-fashioned architectural look that makes most houses appear older than they are.

Best Months to Visit Rønne
- The weather on Ronne is mild in the winter but cool in the summer, typical of a temperate maritime climate with plenty of sunshine and little precipitation.
- As a heat accumulator, the Baltic Sea ensures that there is rarely a hard freeze in winter. In the spring, however, the water warms up slowly, so spring arrives about ten days later than on the mainland.
- Summer temperatures are moderate because the Baltic Sea keeps the island cool.
- Ronne is best visited during July and August.
- However, predicting the vagaries of the weather and ensuring a similarly warm summer every year is challenging.

Dramatic Hammershus ruins
- You'd expect nothing less than a nearly 1000-year-old hilltop castle ruin with breathtaking views of Bornholm Island.
- In addition to being the most extensive castle ruins in Northern Europe, the history of Hammershus is as brutal as any strategic mediaeval fortress on an isolated island.
- To get a spectacular view, walk or climb! Several large rocks and cliffs protrude from the slope north of Hammershus castle ruins.
The pretty village of Svaneke
- At Svaneke, you can truly get away from it all.

- Sit and enjoy a drink while overlooking the water and listening to the gentle sounds of island life.
- You can also visit the nearby smaller fishing villages and smokehouses, such as Blshavn, Listed, and Arsdale.
Fine sands and dining on Dueodde Beach
- The sand on Dueodde Beach (don't try to pronounce it) is so fine that it was once used to fill hourglasses.
- It is not only the ideal location for a walk, swim, or picnic, but it is also the location of a rather unique converted beach shack, now the Michelin-starred Kadeau restaurant.
- Is this the world's only Michelin-starred beach shack? Probably!
