Chartreuse

- Chartreuse is one of the most well-known and well-known French liqueurs.
- The drink is thought to have originated from an ancient manuscript that was sent to the Grande Chartreuse monastery in the early 1800s.
- The Carthusian Monks decoded the paper in 1764 and created the first version of a health elixir primarily used as medicine.
- In 1840, the monks tweaked the recipe to create the original Green Chartreuse, the first version of Chartreuse liqueur that is still made using a secret formula containing more than 130 herbs, spices, and botanicals.
- After distillation, the macerate is aged in oak barrels.
Noix de Grenoble

- Noix de Grenoble is walnuts harvested in their shells from the end of September in the French departments of Isére, Drôme, and Savoie.
- They come in three varieties.
- The walnut trees were brought to France by the ancient Romans. The trees were well cared for because they were such a valuable commodity (walnuts were used to pay rent), giving the Grenoble walnuts their distinct quality and taste.
- The three types of walnuts (franquette, Mayette, and Parisienne) differ in shape, colour, and flavor, and are commonly used in onion soups served at weddings, pressed for walnut oil, eaten candied, in the form of nougat or jam, in salads, cheeses, or in cakes.
