North Brabant: Food, Fun & Fashion Guide
Dames Pellens
#Food
- This cosy wine bar boasts a fantastic assortment of well-priced, well-selected wines, but the food is the main draw.
- Salads, coq au vin, and the day's dinner are available every evening. From Thursday through Sunday, however, the cuisine becomes more gourmet, with excellent, somewhat adventurous 'chef-special' fine dining of up to six courses. Reservations are strongly advised.
- The ambience is incredibly comfortable, with heavy oak tables on bare hardwood floors and a spacious street terrace, and the unhurried service is enjoyable and friendly.
- It truly is a family business.
- The moniker Dames Pellens is derived from a pair of early feminists who were previously well-known in the family's hometown.
Dit
#Food
- Dit is a delight for drinks, nibbles, or unusual meals, some of which are brilliant flights of fancy, such as goat's-cheese eclairs with caramelised hazelnuts - a delectable work of art.
- At the bright-yellow benches facing the little bar with its fake flamingo, Madonna, and pinball machine, peruse the comedy-photo menu brochure.
- Or soak in the rays on a modest square of the street terrace at noon.
Den Boerenstamppot
#Food
- Owners who have been joyfully life-affirming for 45 years, Fred and Marloes van Weerd have been serving traditional Dutch dinners.
- A large plate of stamppot (potato mashed with the day's vegetables) is served with your choice of meatballs, stofvlees (beef stew), chicken, sausage, cutlet, and so on. For an additional €10, you can add soup, an appetiser, and dessert.
- Dine at tables beneath cutlery clocks against the bottle-green oak walls or at the steel counter facing the serving area.
Shopping in 's-Hertogenbosch
#Fashion
- 's-Hertogenbosch, our province's capital, is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands.
- The lovely ancient buildings and a walled city centre allow you to experience the mediaeval ambience while shopping.
- You can never get lost in the maze of little streets like the Korte Putstraat and the Snellestraat because you always wind up at the Markt, the city's heart.
- The Lange Vughtstraat is home to upscale shops. Design shops, haute couture, gift shops, concept stores, and one-of-a-kind boutiques can be found here.
- However, the leading brands, such as the Arena retail centre, may also be found in's-Hertogenbosch. Most stores are open on Sundays as well.
EFTELING
#Fun
- With six roller coasters and 30 unique fairy stories, Efteling is the most popular day trip in the Netherlands.
- It's no surprise that it's a top attraction in Brabant, the Netherlands, and even Europe for families with young children, teenagers, and grandparents.
- Adults will marvel at Fata Morgana's beauty, appreciate the Piraa as much as youngsters, and clench their fists just as fiercely as Baron 1898 plunges them into the mine shaft.
- As one prior visitor said, "We're in our 40s, yet we're still kids in Efteling." This must-see site in Brabant will enchant you.
