Arrossejat

#FOOD

  • We couldn't think of anything else to serve because we were so close to the Ebre Delta.
  • Rice is, after all, one of Costa Dorada's signature dishes.
  • Rice is prepared in various ways in this area, but they are all delicious, so we won't blame you if you can't decide at the restaurant or if you want to try them all!
  • The so-called arrossejat is one of the most common elaborations.
  • In towns like L'Ametlla de Mar, Calafell, and Sant Carles de la Ràpita, it's very common. It's a fisherman's dish traditionally prepared to seize unsold fish.

Calçots

#FOOD

  • Calçots are a sweet and tender type of spring onion.
  • They are traditionally cooked over an open fire, burning the outer layer but leaving the interior tender and flavorful.
  • They're served with romesco or salvitxada sauce. They're usually served wrapped in newspaper or on a tile to keep the heat in.
  • Calçots are eaten in a ritualistic manner. Remove the burnt layer with your hands before dipping it in the sauce.
  • Because it's nearly impossible to avoid getting a stain on yourself, the napkin is frequently used as a bib. Calçots are a seasonal product, so keep that in mind.
