Best Months to Visit Are
- Are is at its best in the winter, from December to early March, as Sweden's best ski resort.
- Be aware that the days are short - on the Winter Solstice, and they are barely over 4 hours long. From November through April, there will be plenty of cold and snow, and even though it isn't as high as the Alps, superb skiing conditions can be found well into May, when the days are longer and more enjoyable.
- After the ski season is finished, take your mountain bike and head to Sweden's most famous downhill biking destination.
- In 1999, it held the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships; in 2007, it hosted the Nordic Championships.
- This season lasts until the fall when the snow starts to fall again.
- There is also an excellent hiking location nearby, including some of Sweden's top trails.
- Remember that if you visit in the middle of the summer, the northern latitude will provide you with up to 19-20 hours of daylight daily.

The Best Places to Visit in Are
Ristafallet waterfall
- One of Sweden's most stunning waterfalls, measuring 50 metres in width and 14 metres in height.
- Also, a powerful experience, best known as the roaring falls in Astrid Lindgren's film Ronja, the Robber's Daughter.
- The area is a well-accessible nature reserve with historic and distinctive woodlands, making it ideal for both large and small groups.
- At Ristafallet Camping & Café, you can buy coffee and food.
Enaforsholm Fjällträdgård
- Enaforsholm is located 45 kilometres west of Are, near the Norwegian border.
- Sven Gréen (1905-90), a horticulture specialist and author, built the old and unique garden at the foot of the mountains in 1949, yet it dates back to 1885.
- More than 50 different woody plants, trees, and shrubs, as well as 200 other perennial plants, survive in plant zone 8, the country's harshest climatic zone.
Åre Glashytta glassworks
- The Glashytta glassworks is located in Duved's railway station. Discover more about the magnificent craft of glassblowing. Glass is used to develop and manufacture practical and artistic products.

Are Off the Beaten Track
Åre Bergbana
- The town of re Bergbana is located in the Swedish county of Jamtland.
- The length of this funicular train is 790 metres (2,590 ft).
- In 2008, it was certified as a listed building, a popular tourist destination in the town.
- The railway was built in the early twentieth century.
Åre Old Church
- Are Old Church is a Romanesque church built in the 12th century in the Swedish town of Are.
- The church is a notable structure in the city with exceptional architecture.
- The church is entirely made of stone. It houses a wooden statue that is thought to be from the fourteenth century.
- The church is open to the public daily and can accommodate up to 150 people.

- There is a lot of growth and expansion going on.
- Today, it's a cutting-edge ski resort with new championships, structures, lifts, and enterprises.
- It began as a little farming community along the historic passageway connecting Sundsvall and Trondheim.
- The farm itself isn't particularly historic, as most items on the property were transported there to demonstrate what a 19th-century parish farm looked like.
- The journey continues to the city centre of Are and the old church, re Gamla kyrka — Scandinavia's only mediaeval stone church!
- It's important to remember that it's been in place since the late 1100s.
- A mile from the centre of Are is Frö Gruva. The eastern side of Mt. Reskutan stretches for miles, and it's from here that you can realise how massive the peak is.
- The view isn't the only reason we came to Frö Gruva; there's also the well-preserved copper mine that was in operation from 1744 to 1919.

- They provide food that has been lovingly prepared, focusing on high-quality ingredients and plenty of greens.
- At VM 8an's highest station, La Gondola Caffé, Ristorante & Bar. The restaurant is located in the heart of the ski region and specialises in Italian food.
- Pogo, a restaurant with à la carte, pizza, and a pub in the heart of Duved's central district. Food that is delicious to eat in the restaurant or to take away.

Åre Kabinbana

- You'll be at 1274 metres above sea level in around seven minutes, with views of Jämtland's mountains. reskutan is Sweden's most accessible high mountain, thanks to re Kabinbana.
- The Are Kabinbana cable car was built as part of the re Project in 1972 and began service in 1976.
- The government decided to build a ski slope in re so that even "ordinary" people could go skiing.
- At 421 metres above sea level, the valley station of Are Kabinbana sits just above re square.
- In ideal weather circumstances, each cable car can carry 75 people. When the lines are long, departures are every 20 minutes or continually.
- It takes roughly 7 minutes to climb to 1274 metres above sea level.
- Dogs are permitted to ride in one of the cable cars; however, they must be kept on a leash while on the mountain.
