Nissan River
- The Nissan River, which empties into the north not far south of Halmstad, would not be the same without it.
- The river divides the old city on the west bank from the newer sections on the east side, where bold glass apartment complexes and offices have replaced industries and workers' cottages.
- In Halmstad, joggers and anyone out for a stroll never have to leave the riverside.
- On the east bank, there are parks such as Picassoparken, Kapsylparken, and Filtparken, and on the west bank, there are numerous bars and restaurants.
- Continue north until you reach Laxön (Salmon Island), a popular fishing spot and a summertime gathering spot for coffee and live music.
Galgberget
- This tranquil natural spot in Halmstad's northern outskirts is only a few minutes walk from the city centre.
- The park, situated on a hill, has a bleak history, as it was once the site of Halmstad's gallows.
- However, in the mid-nineteenth century, beech trees were planted on the hill, and in 1897, a viewing tower was built at the highest point.
- This 13-metre structure is a kind of folly, built to look like a Romantic castle with a summer viewing platform.
- Continue north until you reach Laxön (Salmon Island), a popular fishing spot and a summertime gathering spot for coffee and live music.
Tylösand Strand
- There's no better spot to be on a sunny summer day than this sandy beach to the city's west.
- Seven kilometres of silky white sand, delineated by dunes and washed by sweeping North Sea waves, make up Tylösand.
- When the beach gets busy in the summer, the north end is quiet and family-friendly, while the livelier southern end caters to teenagers and young adults.
- A tiny resort is crowded around Tjuvahlan (Thieves' Hole), located near the southernmost tip.
- Smugglers frequented this area until the late 1800s, and the beach features calm waters protected from the wind and North Sea Currents.

Halmstad Castle
- When the city's fortress was built beside the Nissan River at the end of the 16th century, Halmstad was still under Danish rule.
- It was built as a house for King Kristian IV, not as a protective structure, but as a place for him to relax and enjoy himself.
- The structure has undergone several renovations over time, including the addition of its current mansard roof in the 18th century.
- However, the essential layout is unchanged from when it was built, as is the thin, copper-coated tower.
- The castle now houses administrative offices, although you can visit the courtyard bypassing via the passageway.
