Sandgrund Lars Lerin
- Sandsgrund, a historic former nightclub next to the Klarälven, is now home to a gallery dedicated to one of Sweden's most cherished artists.
- Lars Lerin is a Swedish superstar known for his stunning watercolour landscapes, which are the focus of this exhibition.
- Watercolours, oil paintings, drawings, collages, and pictures created in far-flung locales worldwide, from Siberia to Iran and the Antarctic, have earned him a restless traveller.
- The museum features a retrospective of Lerin's career and houses the world's most incredible collection of his work.
Värmlands Museum
- The Värmlands Musuem, which reveals the history and culture of this region of Sweden, is located in Karlstad, the county capital.
- The museum's collection includes about 40,000 artefacts, 9,000 works of art, and up to a million pictures. The historical galleries were temporarily closed at the time of writing in 2017.
- The Cyrillushuset, on the other hand, is a must-have.
- This 1920s hall was meant to seem like a Chinese temple and houses the museum's extensive art collection.
- From the 1700s to the present, there are works by Chagall and Miró alongside works by Swedish painters like Lerin, Anders Zorn, and Lena Cronkvist.
Karlstad Cathedral
- Karlstad Cathedral, which dates from 1730, is the seat of the Karlstad Diocese, which encompasses both Värmland and Dalsland.

Alsters Herrgård
- You can visit the elegant lakeside residence of 19th-century poet Gustaf Fröding a little distance east of the city.
- Fröding was born in 1860 in this mansion, built in the 18th century as an ancestral home.
- The home and outbuildings are located throughout the expansive gardens overlooking Lake Vänern.
- An exhibition documenting the house's lengthy history is displayed inside, and an art gallery in the east wing is open during the summer months.
- A diverse cultural programme of poetry readings, drama, music, and dance is also available this season.
- You'll also have easy access to hiking paths and lakeside bathing places from the property.
Brigadmuseum
- This museum, which first opened its doors in 2013, covers the fascinating tale of Sweden's military organisation and development throughout the Cold War.
- The exhibition spans 1945 to 1991, exhibiting the military hardware introduced at the time and daily living during pivotal events such as the Vietnam War and the collapse of the Berlin Wall.
- Military historians can see troop carriers, tanks, and artillery equipment.
- You can even walk down into a bomb bunker and practise shooting a machine gun from 1942 or a modern anti-tank gun on a shooting simulator.

- The Stadsträdgrden is the prettiest area for a picnic in spring and summer, despite all of Karlstad's waterside flora.
- This English-style park features a circuit of gravel walks bordered by flowerbeds and over 800 distinct tree and shrub species, all of which are well-kept and labelled.
- In the 1860s, the Stadsträdgrden served as a horticultural school before being purchased by the city in the 1920s.
- In the summer, a charming cafe/kiosk is located in a little wooden pavilion on one of the lawns.
- Rottneros Park, in the same neighbourhood, is a fantastic sculpture park and patchwork of gardens centred on a manor home.
- This is an excellent match for Mrbacka, as the estate inspired Lagerlöf's Gösta Berling's Saga character "Ekeby."
- It was later renovated in the 1950s to meet the novel's Romantic depiction.
- The sculptures date from the early twentieth century and follow the notion that art should interact with its surroundings.
- More than 30 in total, with Carl Eldh, one of the most well-known sculptors, responsible for more than half of them.
