Top Tourist Attractions in Umea
- Västerbottens Museum in central Umeais a great place to learn more about the area's history.
- The Standing Man, designed by English artist Sean Henry and purchased for 810,000 SEK (about $100,000) in 2008, is a bronze statue with a life-like face.

Guitars – The Museum
- This unassuming old schoolhouse from the early 1900s appears to be a rock, blues, or a jazz fan's dream come true from the exterior.
- More than 500 electric guitars, mainly from the 1950s and 1960s, are displayed at this museum, debuting during Umea's recent reign as Capital of Culture.
- Connoisseurs can examine exceedingly rare instruments such as a 1960 Les Paul, a 1958 Gibson Flying V, and a 1950 Fender Broadcaster.
- Many guitars have had notable owners, and this wonderfully planned up musical goldmine was assembled by two brothers from the 1970s onwards.
Västerbottens Museum
- A museum for the Västerbotten County may be found on the outskirts of Ume, exhibiting the history and culture of this section of northern Sweden.
- You'll learn about the Sami people and see their traditional homes (ktan) built of wood and peat moss, among other things.
- At the outdoor museum, 40 antique buildings from around the county have been deconstructed and rebuilt, including a threshing house, farmhouse, and bakery.

- Sweden's most significant art gallery has been renovated from a former psychiatric hospital in the Umedalen district.
- The hospital and its expansive parkland were chosen by the developer Balticgruppen for an annual (now biannual) outdoor art exhibition after it closed in the 1980s and was sold off.
- This company has purchased a sculpture from each exhibition, collecting a collection of more than 40 sculptures and permanently putting them in this beautiful setting.
- The park features works by JaUmeaPlensa, Antony Gormley, Anis Kapoor, Louis Bourgeois, and Tony Cragg, among others.

Bildmuseet
- It isn't easy to look away from this magnificent museum in front of the Umea River.
- The Bildmuseet's new home, which opened in 2012 and is located on the riverbank UmeaArts Campus, was unveiled in 2012.
- Henning Larsen Architects built the structure immediately identifiable by its straight lines and windows in random placements, and it has received international acclaim.
- There are six split-level floors with far-reaching river vistas for short-term contemporary art shows.
- The shows change every few months, so you'll always have a new experience each time you visit.
- From modern Chinese art to architectural photography and industrial design by Charles and Ray Eames, there's something for everyone.
Umeå Rådhus
- After a fire destroyed most of Umeain 1888, the city's new landmarks were designed by architect Fredrik Olaus Lindström.
- The Town Hall, which was constructed barely two years after the catastrophe, was perhaps the most significant.
- This red brick structure stands on the same site as a former 17th-century structure overlooking the river harbour, which served as a significant mode of transportation before the arrival of the railway.
- Lindström designed his building in a Neo-Renaissance style, with a crow-stepped roof and mullioned windows and a Dutch influence in the crow-stepped roof and mullioned windows.

Umea Must-Attend Festivals and Events
- This unique environment for jazz and improvised music has been a regular musical event in Umea for more than 50 years.
